Growing up, I always had this idea that I was fat, because all my friends were so much smaller than me. It is only with time and reflection that I now realize I was simply an early developer, but back then I could not possibly understand this. Eventually, as the years passed, I did end up becoming what I always thought I was – overweight – and I was completely unhappy about it.
I decided to do something about it while I was nursing a broken heart. Through the mess, I acknowledged that I needed to lose some weight, and began attending a ladies’ circuit-training gym with a friend. But I found it repetitive, and hardly effective. Shortly after we started, our enthusiasm waned and the weight stayed put.
Just when my heart fully healed, it was broken again – and I gained about 20 more pounds. This time, I turned to herbal pills to make me thin, and I did end up losing those 20 pounds. I felt great about it and was pleased with the compliments from friends and family. But of course, the “diet” was not realistic and had no staying power. The weight came on again. Devastated, I tried the circuit training again, I tried going to the gym, I tried to eat well, I tried everything, but nothing worked for me. Or so I thought.
I had always toyed with the idea of personal training, but I always had an excuse – mainly financial – for not doing it. When yet another breakup hit, something changed inside of me. I was in a different space in my life; I had my own place, a good job, good friends, and a loving family. I had no more excuses. I made the choice during a sleepless night spent stressing about my body image to reach out and hire a trainer, no matter what it cost me. And I found Kevin and Body Be Fit.
I had discovered the Body Be Fit website a few months earlier when I first began investigating personal training, and I was immediately drawn by their friendliness, affordability, and overall zest for fun and adventure. Knowing that this was what I truly needed, I sent Kevin an email at 12:30 in the morning. He responded the very next day. After meeting with him personally, I knew I had finally made the right decision, a decision that would affect the rest of my life.
Kevin helped me realize that it’s about a lifestyle choice – not finding a quick fix to lose weight. Through Body Be Fit’s bootcamps, personal training, and endless support, my attitude towards healthy living has done a 180º turn. I achieved goals I didn’t even think I was capable of – I lost 25 pounds in three months*, a goal I set to reach in twice the amount of time.
Now, I work out four times per week, make healthy choices, and wake up each morning with confidence. It’s not always easy, but my trainers’ constant encouragement and faith in me keeps me going. I’m seeing and feeling the rewards that come with all that hard work.
I made an investment in myself, my health, and my future when I sent that email to Kevin. And I have never felt anything more empowering.
